Amos Distinguished Chair Award

Nominations for SAMLA 98 will open in early 2026 and will close on July 15, 2026 (the panel proposal submission deadline). Chairs can identify their interest when submitting their session proposal on Ballast. Applications will be reviewed internally by SAMLA.

Dr. Elizabeth West is proud to sponsor registration funds for all presenting members and chairs for two scholarly panels at each annual conference for five years, beginning with SAMLA 94. Elena Diaz-Verson, the award donor, was a Cuban American who gave generously to support scholarship in global studies. In keeping with her spirit, the two winning panels must focus on biography, archives, and or digital humanities, and represent a global scope.
